Birding at Sunrise ~ Part 3

One of these days I'm going to have my own acreage, my own little piece of paradise, where I can create a refuge for birds as well as myself. For now, I'll have to keep making the drive down to Llano Seco WMA.
I'm sure I have the goofiest smile on my face every time I walk down the trail, taking in the breathtaking beauty of this place. I'll never get tired of the meadowlarks singing their cheery "good morning" song and having staring contests with the killdeer and white-crowned sparrows...


As promised yesterday, here is the surprise Great Horned Owl we saw on Seven Mile Ln., as we were leaving the refuge...
Just because he was difficult to see in the dense branches of the tree on the side of the road didn't make spotting him any less exciting!
The second those yellow eyes blinked at me, my day was made!
