Shorebirds are a Sure Thing

You know spring is here when the shorebirds start arriving at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge!

Surprise Encounters

We always see such a large variety of birds every time we drive through the auto tour at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge!

You might encounter a little flock of killdeer who all look equally worried...

A California Towhee taking in the beautiful scenery...

A red-tailed hawk looking for prey from his perch in a shady tree...

Or a Black Phoebe on the lookout for his next snack...

 You never know who's going to be peeking up through the tall grass!

 And the wildlife doesn't necessarily have to have feathers either!
