This House Finch is looking extra red today...
And it looks to me like he's having a very good hair day, too...

Rub-A-Dub-Dub
These two sparrows cracked me up when I saw them in the bird bath together. They were really goin' to town and water was splashing everywhere!
Wait for it...
Haha! Their expressions are priceless!
Way to wash behind the ears, guys!

Fort Bragg, California
I made these cute little graphics for my author newsletter and thought I'd share them here, too.
All right, I'm headed back into my writing cave...
My next book, Island Ice, a steamy beach read, will be released next week! I'll be spending the next few months working on a new book and counting the days until I can work on something bird-inspired like Wild Ice. ;) There aren't enough birding heroes in romance novels these days!

Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens
Our trip to the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens was breathtaking! The coast is already a beautiful place, but the gardens are truly a wonderful gem!
I took a few hundred pictures of all of the pretty flowers in bloom, but I'm just posting the bird pics or else we'd be here all day! There were colorful dahlias, roses, iris, poppies, lavender, and a neat succulent garden.
On with the birds!
Pigeon Guillemot...
His mate was hanging out in this cave...
Look at those feet!
I think this might be a Black Phoebe? Can't see the front to see if it has any white markings...
A White-crowned Sparrow was singing a cheery song from this tree...
My favorite pic of the day! |
This American Robin was the early bird who got the worm!
The perfect place to daydream...

Combined Effort
I never get tired of seeing these Orioles out my window! They are so colorful and make such a different sound than our other backyard birds. Today I got to see both the male and female feeding at the same time...
