Tree-top Heron

The landscape at Lassen Volcanic National Park in winter is very different from the last time we went in August. We only saw a few other people there and pretty much had Manzanita Lake to ourselves. The bright blue sky and crisp, fresh air make the two mile walk around the lake pleasant and peaceful. It's tough to get the birds to stand still enough to get photos, so you just have to lower your camera and enjoy the sounds of the many bird calls in the area.
