The Fast and the Furious

(The fast meaning the birds and the furious meaning me trying to furiously take photos of them before they disappear!)

Holy wow! We were on the auto tour at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge when I looked over and there was a Bittern a few feet away from the car!

I almost missed it because I was looking over at the driver's side of the car where I spotted a Cormorant. We weren't fast enough to get a picture of the Cormorant before he high-tailed it out of there, but I did capture the Bittern as he flew away.

Man, I love those birds!
