As we continued down the auto tour at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge, we came upon a Great Egret enjoying the fall colors...

 A Western Meadowlark shy about showing its winter plumage...

An immature White-crowned Sparrow showing off its reed-grasping abilities...

 A Great Blue Heron knee-deep in the marsh...

Immature and adult Snow Geese...

 Great Egrets always look a little funny when they look at you head-on...

 Not such an elegant pose, but they're still one of my favorites...
