Scarce Summertime Birding

Every time we go to the Llano Seco Unit of the North Central Valley Wildlife Management Area (quite a mouthful, huh?), we stop in to Ed's Pond. In the past, we've seen anything from cormorants to snowy egrets to blue herons around or in the pond, fishing or working on their suntans.

This time there wasn't much activity, just a group of Canada Geese and a Red-tailed Hawk on a telephone pole.

I did spot these pretty blue flowers (weeds, I know) by the pond and was glad to see that they actually showed up in the photo.
The day was gray and cloudy, so it's a wonder anything showed up on camera!
