Birding at Gray Lodge Wildlife Area - Part Four

Have you ever been somewhere that was so beautiful that you didn't want to leave? That's how we felt during our last visit to the Gray Lodge Wildlife Area. Above, is a photo from the viewing platform. The combination of the green vegetation, the blue cloud-filled sky and the reflecting water was extraordinary.

In the photo below, there's a bald eagle perched in the left side of the tree...
There he is, up close, tucked in behind the greenery...

Yesterday, I promised you photos of the green heron we saw and here they are:

We couldn't believe our luck! As we were walking down the self-guided nature trail, two green herons flew off. One went behind us and the other flew up ahead and landed in the slough in front of us. He was gracious enough to let us snap our first photos of a green heron. What a rush!

Who needs to go skydiving when every time you see a new bird species your heart rate does the tango?!

Can't wait to go back and see what else I can find!
