Black-crowned Night Heron Rookery ☼ Colusa National Wildlife Refuge

I'm still amazed at how we have our very own Black-crowned Night Heron rookery at the Colusa National Wildlife Refuge.

There must be hundreds of herons tucked in along the bank. And they're super easy to see when there aren't any leaves on the trees!

  1. Glad to hear these birds are flourishing in your area. I’ve been seeing these in silicon valley bay area California. In fact I sat and ate dinner with one about 5 feet away tonight. He let me watch him hunt. Amazing how still they are while hunting. How patient. Then suddenly!
    Cool spirits. So valuable.
    Peace to you
