Magnificent Backdrop

This was the only Great Blue Heron we saw during our drive around the Tule Lake NWR...

The sun was just coming up and the lighting wasn't the greatest, but it did offer a nice silhouette.

All right, on to the birds of prey I promised you yesterday...

There were quite a few Red-tailed Hawks, hanging out on telephone poles and farm equipment...

...and even one posing in front of Mt. Shasta...

A more beautiful background I don't think we could find...

 But the greatest sighting of them all might be the Bald Eagle we spotted...

Tomorrow, we're heading to the Modoc National Wildlife Refuge...
